    It’s World Water Day! Are you hydrated?

    World Water Day celebrates the importance of freshwater and the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Not only are we celebrating just freshwater itself today, but we are also celebrating all of the ways that we can hydrate our bodies and the amazing options that we have in store. Water comes in all shapes and sizes. What’s an added bonus is that it doesn’t matter the how you drink it, as long as it gets in your body, you’re one step closer to becoming hydrated!

    Water Favorite

    Eagle’s Peak Spring Water is by far a customer favorite. As soon as we get it in stock, by the end of the day it’s all gone! Next time you’re in store, make sure you grab one (or a case of 6) while you can!

    Bottled Water

    Our water selection is very large and awesome! There are two waters that are special on our shelves right now. One company is CBD Living Water. Not only is it refreshing but it contains 5mg of CBD per bottle! Another company is WAIĀKEA. WAIĀKEA was founded to create a positive change in the world; for the environment and the people. For every liter of WAIĀKEA that you buy, they will donate 1 week of clean drinking water to those in need!

    Water Additions

    Are there some days where you don’t feel like drinking plain water? Get spontaneous and add one of these to your water! Laird Superfood has a hydrate coconut water line (which we carry ALL four of their flavors). This line consists of freeze-dried coconut water that you can add and voila, instant coconut water (their flavors are matcha, turmeric, beet, and original). Another option is from SweetLeaf. They have a liquid form called WaterDrops in multiple flavors (we carry raspberry lemonade and peach mango) that is perfect to keep in your bag 24/7.

    Water Containers

    No matter how you drink it, just make sure you look “cool” when you do! We have many options- one is EcoVessel! Not only does EcoVessel keep your water cold, but they have bottles with strainers and infusers to add water or tea to! Another option we have is our very own Basil Bandwagon Stainless Steel bottles!     Water Accessories

    When you’re on-the-go, you have to make sure that your water is accessible. Sometimes when you’re driving and your bottle is too large to fit in the cup holder, you have to throw the bottle on the passenger seat. So when you make a turn, your bottle goes rolling onto the floor and then you have to go forever without drinking. We’ve all been there but we have the solution!     PRODUCE RECIPE OF THE WEEK: PARMESAN ROASTED ASPARAGUS

    Happy first day of spring!! To kick off the spring season, we have a FRESH recipe for you this week. Not only will it help you get into the spring season, but this recipe is packed with nutrients from organic asparagus. BONUS– we have imported Italian organic parmesan cheese in our meat and cheese case! Not only is it organic, but it is freshly grated by our own Chef Chris!

    Ingredients

    2 1/2 Pounds Fresh Asparagus

    2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

    1/2 Teaspoon Salt, or to taste

    1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper, or to taste

    1/2 Cup Freshly Grated Parmesan (found in our meat and cheese case)

    2 Lemons, cut in slices for serving

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

    2. Lay asparagus in single layer on sheet pan and drizzle with olive oil.

    3. Sprinkle salt and pepper (you can adjust amounts to your taste) over all asparagus.

    4. Roast for 15-20 minutes until tender.

    5. Take out of oven and add parmesan over top.

    6. Return to oven for another minute.

    7. Take out of oven, serve with lemon slices and enjoy!

    PRODUCE RECIPE OF THE WEEK: BRAISED GREEN CABBAGE

    St. Patrick’s Day is literally right around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited! Not only do we have organic green cabbage on sale for $0.99 lb, but we also have antibiotic-free corned beef from Garrett Valley Farm! This recipe is perfect for your traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal with your family. BONUS– EPIC Bone Broth is also on sale for $5.29 each! DOUBLE BONUS– We are selling homemade Traditional and Gluten Free/Vegan Irish Soda Bread this Friday Evening (3/15), All Day Saturday (3/16) & Sunday (3/17)!

    Ingredients

    2 Tablespoons Melted Ghee (for coating baking dish) (we used Organic Valley Ghee)

    1 Head Green Cabbage

    1 Red or Yellow Onion, peeled and thickly sliced

    2 Large Carrots, peeled and cut in 1/4-inch coins

    1/4 Cup Bone Broth or Water (we used EPIC Bone Broth)

    1/4 Cup Melted Ghee (we used Organic Valley Ghee)

    Salt and Pepper

    Aged Balsamic Vinegar, to taste (we used O Aged Balsamic Vinegar)

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Make sure rack is set in the middle.

    2. Coat baking dish with melted ghee.

    3. Cut the tough stem end of the cabbage and split into 6-8 wedges. You want to make sure to keep the core attached so the wedges stay intact after cooking (the core will become super tender during cooking as well).

    4. Lay the cabbage wedges in a single layer on the greased baking dish. Toss onions and carrots onto wedges and drizzle with bone broth and the melted ghee.

    5. Season well with salt and pepper. Cover tightly with foil and place in oven.

    6. Leave cabbage to cook (undisturbed) for 1 hour. After that hour, crack open the foil cover and flip over each wedge carefully. Reseal dish tightly and braise for another hour or until fork-tender.

    7. Remove cabbage to cool and store in fridge until you’re ready to enjoy (up to 4 days). When you’re ready to serve, bake cabbage in oven until browned (about 15 minutes) at 425 degrees F.

    8. Drizzle with aged balsamic vinegar, serve immediately, and enjoy!

    Everyone knows when the seasons change from the harsh, cold winter to sweet, fresh spring due to their skin. Since we’re stuck inside all winter long or we go outside to shovel the snow from our driveways and off of our cars, our skin tends to dry up and crack. Which is never fun to deal with.     Produce Recipe of the Week: Blood Orange Avocado Salsa

    When people first see this recipe, they think “wow, that’s definitely… different.” But let me tell you, this is one of the best homemade salsas that I have ever had. It’s refreshing yet it still gives a nice kick. Not only does it taste good to dip with tortilla chips, but it even tastes great in salmon tacos (and thankfully for you, we have fresh salmon in store). It’s a perfect reminder of what summer tastes like!

    Ingredients

    2 Blood Oranges

    2 Scallions (chopped)

    1 Jalapeno (minced; seeded too depending on your desired level of spice)

    2 Avocados (chopped)

    1/4 Cup Chopped Cilantro

    2 Tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice

    Salt (to taste)

    Method

    1. Using a sharp knife, slice the peel off of the blood oranges removing as much white pith as possible.

    2. Slice the peeled blood oranges into smaller pieces.

    3. In a medium bowl, mix together the avocado, scallions, jalapeno, cilantro, lime juice, and salt to taste,

    4. Add blood orange pieces to mixture and gently stir to combine.

    5. Serve immediately and enjoy!

    Dragonfly Effect Naturals

    As gross as it sounds, when you rinse (spit) out the Wild Forager Mouthwash, you can actually see all of the gross particles that came out between your teeth! The Detox Toothpaste contains bentonite clay which clings to all the gross germs that get stuck in between your teeth. Not only is it clean but it doesn’t hurt if you swallow them too- the bottles even say to swallow a certain amount of times per week to get the detox effects. Refreshing, harmless to swallow, and contains echinacea and silver for added benefits- you can’t go wrong!

    The company is a buy-one-give-one company who supports numerous organizations when you buy their products. They are vegan, wild-crafted, and multi-purpose.

    The Coconut Oil Toothpaste was made to be a comparable alternative to conventional toothpastes while also incorporating the idea of oil pulling off the germs in your mouth- that’s why they use coconut oil! Coconut oil is a detoxifier and leaves a protective barrier on teeth and gums. The xylitol that’s in their formulas also act as a cavity fighter to prevent bacteria from sticking. The Whitening Pen also contains xylitol and coconut oil which helps remove the stains from that pulling action they focused their brand on.
